SP34 is owned and run by Mette and Søren Brøchner, who opened the new boutique hotel in Copenhagen's Latin district in spring 2014. The hotel is located in two previously separate buildings, one of which used to house Hotel Fox.

The hotel name makes reference to its address on Sankt Peders Stræde. SP34 is a 4+ star hotel with 118 rooms ranging from 18-50m2, three penthouse suites, two restaurants, conference facilities on two floors for 100 participants and a cinema which seats 25.

The aim was for the hotel to signal receptiveness, and to draw the street into the building. Most of the solid walls at ground level facing the street have therefore been removed, thus offering a free view of the two restaurants and the lobby. Guests check in at the bar, where hams and cheeses can be seen hanging from the ceiling.

The basic idea was to create a hotel with a personal atmosphere and fascinating and surprising furnishings. The desire was to arouse the curiosity of guests, so they want to find out where the various elements – lights, chairs, tables, etc. – come from.

"The CH88 chair was designed and presented at a Swedish exhibition in 1955, but was never put into production. Since that time it has only existed as drawings in Hans J. Wegner's archive. This story is just perfect for our hotel, as is the chair”, architect Morten Hedegaard explains about their choice of CH88 chairs for the hotel. “

He continues: “I have sat in many lovely conference rooms, but always in the same type of chair with a cheap frame and upholstered backrest. The justification is, of course, the need to save money on a chair that is required in such large numbers. We chose to do the opposite. We wanted our conference chair to have such an attractive appearance and finish that people would be drawn to look at it and touch it. CH88 has this appeal, and is also extremely comfortable. Like Wegner's other chairs, it permits movement – which is a big advantage when you have to sit for several hours. The curved back- and armrest provide the perfect resting place.

The CH88 char is an experience in itself, and makes conferences at SP34 something special. It can actually be much more than a conference chair. So we put a few of them in the lobby as well."

Architect Morten Hedegaard comments on the choice of Wegner’s CH88 chair:
